Job Description


The Ingredients Industry Analyst supports the Industry Manager in the research and commercial development of this industry. The successful candidate will be excited by the prospect of gaining expert knowledge of the ingredients industry and using this knowledge to contribute to the creation of quality industry data and insights which will be published on our global market analysis software platform, Passport. The main challenge of the role will be to research ingredient market sizes and therefore we are looking for someone with a scientific background who is outgoing and willing to engage with relevant people within the Food, Drinks, Personal and Home Care industries.


Key responsibilities


- Secondary research on both national and international industry sources; 
- Primary research: 
    Interviewing ingredients manufacturers with the aim of updating and developing ingredients data and product formulations for our database 
    Interviewing industry bodies, national statistics offices and trade associations to ensure the direct application to the system of quantitative     and qualitative ingredient information available in the public domain
- To work with the Industry Manager on the development of project planning, roll out, research and final data checks
- Carry out global reviews of industry and production data to:
    Validate and strengthen our published ingredients data 
    Ensure consistency of approaches to estimation and forecasting 
    Maximise product quality
-Strategic analysis: global briefings, company profiles and articles


Required Skills


- Research experience, with proven skills in research, interviewing, commissioning, quantitative analysis
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- High level of numeracy - you must be comfortable working with numbers as this is a key focus of the role
- Organisational ability
- Tenacity and keen attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
- Computer literacy to a high level in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint


Required Experience


- The successful candidate will have a scientific background and display the ability to work with numerical information and extract insights from data
- Another key aspect of the role is industry contact and so any experience in market research andor interviewing will be viewed positively
- The ability to work independently and to tight deadlines will be necessary as will an ability to adapt to circumstances with a flexible approach to problem solving
