Actuarial
In simple terms, actuaries paint a picture of the future with numbers. What makes our actuaries so special is the sheer size of the numbers on their palette. Protecting the financial interests of millions of people, in the shape of well over £300 billion under management, is an enormous responsibility. So whether you join us in Norwich or York, the big time beckons.
What you'll do
It's a fascinating time to start, as training in the post-credit crunch world will put you right at the forefront of modern risk management. You'll learn to predict how our insurance products will fare and how well our own IT, marketing and business operations will work. Along the way, you'll be aiming to pass the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries' exams in double-quick time. The option of up to 45 study days a year will certainly help.
What you'll need
Your instinctive flair for numbers and stats will have led you to study a suitably numerical subject at university. Combined with natural commercial flair and good all-round people skills, these abilities will enable you to explain highly complex issues clearly and persuasively to non-specialist audiences - including our key business decision makers.
