Job Title: Assistant Category Accountant

My client has a strong brand with an amazing legacy and some fantastic products and services to get your teeth into. They have 450 stores across the UK and Republic of Ireland, which makes it one of the largest non-food retailers in the country. They differentiate themselves from their competitors through their national store portfolio, broad product range, competitive pricing, customer service and strong brands.

Reporting to the Category Accountants, the role involves working as part of the Commercial Finance team in the provision, analysis and interpretation of management information for the Trading teams.

Trading Finance plays a key role for the product teams providing support for decisions. The focus is on providing timely and relevant management information both on a regular and ad-hoc basis.

Key Responsibilities

- Provision of daily, weekly and monthly management information on a timely and accurate basis
E.g. Sales and margin reports by product group
- Month end duties, including journal postings and variance analysis for Head Office cost centres and assistance with the marketing pack production.
- Update budget and quarterly forecasting models
- Prepare quarterly spreadsheets on supplier analysis and Far East sourcing analysis for the Category Accountants
- Providing support to Product Managers in answering ad-hoc queries relating to the performance of their products
- Assist the Category Accountants as and when required with ad-hoc tasks

The roles comes with a basic of £25k + up to £10k annual bonus and study support.

Requirements:

-Part Qualified in CIMA or ACCA
-2:1 degree in any subject
-1 year experience in accountancy
-Good communication skills, both written and verbal
-Demonstrate a ?can-do? attitude keen to learn commercial awareness
-Self-motivated and driven
-Ability to meet deadlines and work accurately
-Team player
-Demonstrate technical aptitude to develop advanced Excel, Business Warehouse skills
-Keen to proceed with professional Accountancy qualifications. (Study support available)
