When people think of engineers they tend to think of mechanics in greasy blue overalls fixing up large pieces of machinery, but engineers can work in a wide range of industries from aerospace, chemical, defence to power generation, telecoms and utilities.
The projects engineers can work on range from the development of nanotechnologies and electronic systems, to working on a massive production plant or wind farm. Engineers invent, design, and manufacture everything we use as a society.
Employers in this sector are looking for engineers who can combine a deep technical understanding with commercial awareness, and often a postgraduate qualification is the best way of obtaining this knowledge.
