A market leading secure data systems provider who work extensively with socially important services including Education, Justice, Health and Employment, for clients ranging across the voluntary, private and public sectors.
1. THE ROLE
-Work to implement primarily Java web based projects.
-Have the ability to lead small projects and work on larger projects (possibly in collaboration) under the supervision of more senior members of staff.
2. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Able to meet set deadlines, or let Project Manager know why not in advance.
-Able to take an active part in the planning and development of projects, taking ownership to ensure completion. Taking the brief and developing appropriate response (navigational structure, technology mix, brand awareness).
-Take a proactive role in project commencement.
-Take part in meetings with clients to shape a project, or appraise project progress.
-Testing of work to ensure fitness for brief.
-Display a firm grasp of the client expectation for a project.
-Communicate immediately to Line Manager if information is lacking or unclear that will mean a project cannot be completed on timeto specification.
-Take due care to ensure that all files (digital or real) are properly stored and backed up.
-Follow the department guidelines, and play an active role in developing these guidelines as required.
3. TYPE OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED
-Development work, specifically hi-quality Java and SQL code, as well as always working to brief to fulfil client expectations.
4. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
-Excellent knowledge of Java, JSP and SQL.
-Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
-Knowledge of Hibernate, Spring, Struts, Linux administration or graphic design an advantage.
-Good software design skills.
-Understand the technical limitations and advantages of different Internet development practices.
-Demonstrate an understanding of the correct use of current technologies and an awareness of new technologies.
