Built Environment means the man-made surroundings which provide the canvas for human activity; from large civic surroundings to private places. It addresses the design and management of these surroundings and their relationship to the activities which take place within them.
It is generally not considered an academic discipline in its own right, but as a multidisciplinary subject drawing on economics, law, management, design and technology.
Graduates progress to postgraduate education will learn logical thinking, critical evaluation, communication, cultural awareness, organising and research. These skills are applicable to a whole range of different jobs from disparate sectors.
