Anthropology is the study of humans, their culture and history. An anthropology course could involve the study of language, physiology, art, or concern the organisation of society. It is a broad subject that sometimes attempts to answer big questions about what it is to be human.
Postgraduate courses will tend to allow students to specialise in social, cultural or biological anthropology. Social and cultural anthropology will examine societies, economies, religions and cultures, while biological anthropology concerns itself with the science of human life, and how we have evolved.
Postgraduate qualifications in Anthropology can open up a wide range of career opportunities, in further research, an academic career or an industry one. Anthropology postgraduate courses in the UK are split into those which are mostly taught and those that are research based. Master?s tend to take one or two years to complete, while PhD?s in Anthropology is likely to take at least three years.
